” Kings Way ” 2018, 392x575cm Digital print on Sinterflex tiles , Site specific installation made for 6th Çanakkale Biennale , Turkey
” King’s Way “ 2018 specially developed for the 6th Canakkale Biennale. Exhibition took place at ancient city of TROY (Nowadays Canakkale). For this exhibition, I produced a site specific installation. It is a tiles map shows 10 years Journey of the King Odysseus return to home (TROY) after the Trojan war. The Map digitally printed on large-scale tiles at one of the tile factories in the region. The map is based on Homer ‘s book of Odyssey. It is a literal translation of a book to a map. Odyssey is talk about the geography (ancient Greek) but obviously most of it fiction. I wanted the visitors walk on the map and break the tiles to smaller pieces during the exhibition. I wanted leave a modern layer to the history. Most of the history created by destruction. When the work is broken the smaller fragrances, it is getting harder to read the whole map. This is exactly same way how we read the history, by it is fragments. There is a huge archeological site at ancient Troy going on many years, they also opened new museum. I was very pleased with the work which really suited to region and it’s history.
